Earth second, earth minute, earth hour

I have been waiting since the beginning of March to celebrate Earth Hour which was scheduled on the 28th March. My 1st Earth Hour started at Expert food court at RH Plaza. As the clock reaches 8:30p.m., the shop switched off their main lights, while the stall operators light remained as business still have to go on. Four points hotel participated as well. Its so encouraging to know that small and large businessess alike have lend their support in making this auspicious event a success. After finishing dinner, my friends and I left RH Plaza and went to Green Heights Mall to join the Earth Hour celebration there. The Mall organized a mini concert consisting of 3 local bands, one of it is none other than Evenstarr, a local band of which my friend Silas is the vocalist. The concert was so-so, mediocre I shall say. But having to choose between being in a pitched black house and the amatuerish concert, I'd rather be in the midst of the concert. All was not lost though. I took pleasure

Dunia roh by Pastor Tony Daud

My friend Janics is so into Pastor Tony Daud's books. She has been sharing to me about his testimony (he was a former 'dukun tahap tertinggi' btw) and how his books really gave her insight on the spiritual realm and the occult practices. I wasn't too interested until lately.. Here's the story as to why the sudden interest in picking up Pastor Tony's book. It started with a relative who believes that my Akong is demon possessed. Mind you, the poor man is suffering from Alzheimer disease (certified by the docs!)and she believes that there's an evil spirit disturbing him. Come on now. I've seen people who are demon possessed. Their limbs can bend in outrageous places(yup, Emily Rose) and they can out power 10 people. I didn't say anything when she shared her opinion to refer my Akong to her bomoh. Well, I really didn't want to offend her. But I know in my heart, I sense God's Spirit grieving. Anyway, it was not until she persuaded an aunt and

I'll miss you

On the 10th March, 2009, I suffered a great loss. My uncle Michael Chia passed away after experiencing complication after his heart surgery. I was crushed. I didn't expect him to leave us. It was so sudden. I know that I must be strong..for my aunt and cousin. I'll miss the dinner parties that he had thrown. He loves to entertain families and friends... I'll miss his loud voice..although I noticed that he toned down a few years ago. I'll never forget how he defended me and protected my name. I really appreciated it. I'll miss his generosity. I'll miss his detailed info ranging from cats, laksa, Jakarta..and many more. I'll miss having to bum into him on the road or at the coffee shop near my office. I will miss my Uncle Mike. I will cherish the memories that we had together. May you rest in peace.

Science and Maths in English...in favour or not?

Yesterday, there was a protest against the usage of English in teaching Science and Maths. When I look at the pictures, the crowd looks rather rowdy and if I so happen to be around the area, I would definitely be afraid of my safety. Now, is this protest by way of public demonstration necessary? Since a memo has been circulated and signed by the 'public', then just hand over the memo to the PM. After all, that's what a memo/petition is for. As for the use of the English language, I don't see why we should make a great fuss about it. I believe our government is being practical. I also believe that by implementing the use of English they are concern with our future because they want us to achieve not only in home ground but overseas as well. Once again, I see the people intimidated by things which t should not and ought not to be a big issue. Think about ISA law, freedom of speech and religion, race discrimination..these are the big issues which we should make a great dea
